Portraits of
'Sunset Velvet' Oxalis

Sunset Velvet

In September, Oxalis siliquosa 'Sunset Velvet' still has
its summer colors, predominantly lime-green, with some
of the leaves' spring-pink & red here & there.

By late October & early November 'Sunset Velvet'
takes on a new shade of pink quite distinct from
the multitude of shades on spring's new growth.

Oxalis

Later in November, this oxalis begins to prove it really
doesn't love the cold, & begins the process of
dying back to the ground. It remained lively through
many frosty mornings. But by December, after a couple of
very cold days, it suddenly dies to the ground
& will not re-emerge until spring.
