Tailypo: A Newfangled Tall Tail (1996) is a children's book by Angela Shelf Medearis, illustrated in watercolors by Sterling Brown. It tells the story of a chihuahua brave and bold whose name is Fang, who defends the boy he loves, an African American kid of the Texas Hill Country, from the frightening swamp monster. Based on a traditional folktale, others have retold the story too, but not with a chihuahua, and not with an African American kid.
