Band leader Xavier Cugat in 1949 with his little friend Poquito. Another of his famous chis was the subject of a children's book Pepito the Little Dancing Dog: The Story of Xavier Cugat's Chihuahua (1979), text by Mark Evans and illustrations by Xavier Cugat. The tale is about how Pepito the chihuahua came to be a dancer in Cugat's band. Cugat was an amusing caricaturist and his illustrations very charming. The book unfortunately is rare.
