This amazing pictograph is in the Alabama Hills area of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is a dragon, but in the form of a monstrously spiked dog, or alligator-dog.

Regular dogs with serpent-length tails seen in other pictographs and petroglyphs are likely transformational figures of shamanistic dream or hallucination, with the dog turning into a monster-serpent that causes injury but which, if given offerings of dogs, protects people.
