Janet Hofacker,
the Illustrated Woman

Sent through the mail on May Day 1995 from the Illustrated Woman, this collage was done on the exposed corregation of a piece of cardboard. First a flowery image was glued to the corregations managing to conform to the shape; then three other paper bits including an Illustrated Woman artistamp & a real Romanian stamp were glued atop that, then some hand touching up in silver & copper ink or paint finished it up. The scanner didn't capture the delicacy of the piece because the scanner doesn't do three-dimensional art very well, but I think enough is captured to tell that Janet is one of the greatest of mail artists for capturing images of beauty.

You can see more of what Janet does at her Found Art Assemblage gallery on the web.
