Marilyn Dammann aka Shadow
plus Pete Spence & Cornelis Vleesken

Oh, this card isn't a major winner as mail art cards go, but I'm fond of it because of the journey it took. It is hard to decipher who actually had it first, but it appears to have been mailed by Pete Spence in Victoria, Australia to Cornellis Vleesken in Cape Paterson, with a note that said "Add to & Post to Paghat the Ratgirl." Cornellis sent it on to Marilyn Dammann in Michigan, who sent it to me in Seattle, the Michigan postmark being October 23, 1997.

The rat is on the original card before it got altered, & is from artwork by Richard Cleall-Harding. The odd bits of paper & stickers & tape obscuring most of the card was the doing of the three aforementioned mail artists. These kinds of ad hoc mini-projects are common in the mail art community, & it is surprising how often it works, many mail artists feeling there is a bit of honor involved in not being the one who interupts the game.
