Autumn portrait of
Coral Bark Japanese Maple

Coral Bark Maple

Leaves of the Japanese Coral Bark Maple (Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku')
emerge yellowish green in spring, turn yellow with copper highlights in summer,
then turn golden-yellow in autumn, as in this October portrait (2005). The dwarf
weeping maple at the foot of the coral bark is a 'Crimson Queen,'
which previous owners planted way, way, way too close to the Coral Bark
but which is now too root-entwined to attempt to move.
